These sounds where based on digital models, a friend of mine instead build physical models of Parasaurolophus nasal passages but also Euoplocephalus. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to bring him to Tumblr yet.

You better believe that if I’m riding into battle, I’m calling the ancient horde to my side with the Hadrophone as my warhorn. Speaking to ghosts is my specialty! pic.twitter.com/bT5x5THo4G — Michael Chiappone (@MichaelChiappo3) February 23, 2023ALT
With the ankylosaur larynx paper, I’ve been thinking about their sounds and remembered something bizarre about Euoplocephalus: its nasal cavity! Several uses have been proposed, including vocalization! I decided to test this similarly to the #Hadrophone. This is the prototype! 🔊 pic.twitter.com/KIb4xlg8Lf — Michael Chiappone (@MichaelChiappo3) February 22, 2023ALT

@marimossy surprise! You actually do. We just call them birds.

tomeandflickcorner

Wait, does this mean we have a general idea of how both Parasaurolophus and Ankylosaurus sounded?

a-dinosaur-a-day

it sure does! plus some other lambeosaurines, because they all have brass instrument crests (iirc)

Once the birds had learned how to initiate video interactions, the second phase of the experiment could begin. In this “open call” period, the 15 participating birds could make calls freely; they also got to choose which bird to dial up. Over the next two months, pet parrots made 147 deliberate video calls to other birds. Their owners took detailed notes about the calls and recorded more than 1,000 hours of video footage that the researchers analyzed.

fun fact of the day: anyone who tells you that "femme" and "butch" can only be used by lesbians took the terf pills- white cis lesbian separationists (terfs) are the ones behind the idea that only lesbians can use butch and femme when many lesbians of color have their own terms for masc and fem lesbians. this is also an effort to erase the history the terms butch and femme have had in including trans and gnc people, drag performers, bears, masc and fem gays into their preferred gender expression and community spaces. it's a historically inaccurate argument. have a good day!
